2.3.2 Room Area Limitations

The system uses R32 refrigerant, which is classified as

class A2 and is flammable under EN 60335-2-40. Follow

the  requirements  below  to  ensure  that  the  system

complies with legislation.
The total amount of refrigerant in the system shall be less

than  or  equal  to  the  maximum  refrigerant  charge.  The

maximum refrigerant charge depends on the volume of

space in the rooms being served by the system.
The  room  area  (A)  shall  be  defined  as  the  room  area

enclosed  by  the  projection  to  the  base  of  the  walls,

partitions and doors of the space in which the appliance

is installed.

●  The  space  considered  shall  be  any  space

which contains refrigerant-containing parts or

into which refrigerant could be released.

●  The room area (A) of the smallest, enclosed,

occupied  space  shall  be  used  in  the

determination of the refrigerant quantity limits.

 WARNING

In addition, the maximum refrigerant charge is also related
to  the  installation  height  of  the  DHW  kit  and  hydraulic
module of the IDU. The correspondence of the maximum
refrigerant charge with the minimum room area (Amin) is
shown in Figure 1 and Table 1. And different values are
used for different indoor installation heights:

●  The  VRF  IDU  installation  height  cannot  be

less than 1.8 m. For more detailed instructions

on  the  installation  height  of  the  IDU,  please

refer to the corresponding Installation Manual

and Owner’s Manual.

●  If  the  installation  height  of  the  VRF  IDU  is

less than 1.8 m, please contact your installer

or  dealer  to  receive  more  information  and

professional advice.

 CAUTION

■

Installation scheme flow chart

Check if the minimum

room area meets the

requirements

Determine the room size

and the refrigerant

system configuration

Decrease piping

length by changing

layout

Calculate the total refrigerant

charge (Mc) according to section

15.1

Determine the strategy of the

refrigerant charge and room area

limitations following section 2.3.2

Check the corresponding table

to get the maximum refrigerant

charge (Mmax)

1. Select the IDU with a

larger air flow

2. Decrease piping length

by changing layout

3. Increase the minimum

room area

4. Adopt additional

measures as described in

applicable legislation
