WARNING – These problems can create instability or cause accidents.
Also, in this case, make it fix by expert personnel.
Loose hub bearings:
1.
Lift one wheel off the ground at a time and try to move it to the right and to the left.
2. Check that the wheel fixing nuts are properly tightened.
3. If the movement of the wheel between the axle and the hub persists, do not drive the
bike and take it to a specialized technician.
Tyre inspection:
The tyres must be properly maintained for adequate road holding and stability. Check
the following specifications:
Inflation:
Make sure the tyres are inflated in accordance to the pressure indicated on the side
of the tyre. We recommend you use a pressure gauge and a hand pump rather than
a service station pump.
WARNING - If the tyres are inflated with the pump of a service station be careful not to in
-
flate the wheels beyond the indicated limit because they could burst.
Tread:
Check that tread has no signs of excessive wear or irregularity, and that there are
no cuts or other damaged parts.
WARNING -Too worn out or damaged tyres must be replaced.
Valves:
Make sure the valve cap is inserted and the valves are clean. Dirt can cause leak-
age or holes in the tire.
WARNING - A flat tyre can create a dangerous instability for the driver.
HANDLEBAR AND STEM
Handlebar stem:
The handlebar stem fits into the steering tube and is held firmly by the steering lock bolt
and by the expander which, when screwed in, connects with the fork tube. To remove the
stem, loosen the bolt with 2 or 3 turns and unlock the expander with a tap. If the bicycle is
a mountain bike, to install the handlebar refer to chapter 3.4.1.
After removing dirt and grease, lubricate again and apply a light film of grease on the fork
thread and on the pipe to be inserted into the frame. The height of the handlebar can be
adapted to suit your needs. You will notice a sign at about 65mm from the base of the
steering with "max height" or "minimum insertion" which indicates the maximum exten
-
sion limit.
WARNING - Never ride the bicycle if the inscription "max. height / minimum insertion” is
visible.
