In the case of capacitive sensors, some special sensor specific calibration pro-
cedure is usually required – consult the sensor manual for more details. This
calibration will
teach
sensor to give proper voltage output on empty and full
case.
Capacitive sensors may be sensitive to the fuel type. If a sensor is calibrated
to aviation fuel (without any alcohol) and then automotive fuel is used (or
vice versa), a significant error in fuel level indication may appear.
Figure 28 shows an example of a capacitive fuel level sensor, which requires 12
V input and provides a signal in 0-5 V range. Configuration for such sensor
is given in Table 15.
