POSITIONING SUGGESTIONS GIVEN IN THIS SECTION SHOULD BE TREATED AS A GUIDE ONLY. YOU SHOULD
ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR THERAPIST OR MEDICAL PRACTITIONER BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT.
Adjusting the Hip support:
Height:
How?
Loosen the four yellow wing nuts (fig 7) and raise or
lower the support to the height of your child’s hips.
Retighten wing nuts.
Why?
The hip support should be at a height where your
child’s hips are held straight against the support. If
the support is too low, your child will sit on it and if
it is too high, your child can easily slip down. The
hips should be as straight as possible for standing.
Position:
How?
The hip support can be tilted or moved backwards or
forwards. Loosen the same yellow wing nuts as for
the height adjustment (fig 7) and slide the support
forwards/backwards or angle it to the desired
position.
Why?
The position of the hip support is important for your child’s posture. The hip support should hold your
child’s hips where a line of gravity drawn through their head and shoulder will also pass through their hips.
This makes sure that gravity is helping your child to bear weight as they stand and not forcing them to
bend. (Fig 8 & 9)

Always secure the child by using all of the positioning straps and safety straps provided. Velcro
should overlap by at least 3 inches
(7.5 cm)
on all straps before you begin to make any other
adjustments. Ensure the safety strap and positioning strap are adjusted for each child and for
changes of clothing.
