Checking axial clearance
If the axial clearance
between the installed hook/clevis and bottom block
increases rapidly, it must be assumed that the
hardened surfaces of the mount are worn. The
worn parts of the mount must then be replaced
immediately. The actual dimensions of the mount
must be measured and recorded before initial op-
eration. Following repair or overhaul of the mount,
the actual dimensions must be determined again.
Rapid wear can be detected quickly due to the
rapid increase in the dimension

. The point of de-
parture is the actual measured dimension in new
condition.
