5.1.5. Negative weight
If the negative sign appears when starting (Fig. 5), press the "
→
0
←
" (ZEROING) button to reset the
dynamometer to zero weight (Fig. 4). The dynamometer will then be ready to display new weight data.

Causes of negative weight
The negative sign is displayed by the dynamometer to indicate that the load is smaller than the original
zero load. This occurs, for example, when load slings or weights suspended from the dynamometer are
removed after it is switched on or after the last zeroing. These are some of the most frequent operations
causing negative weight data to appear on the display. In these and other cases, the negative sign can
be removed as described above.
Intermittent negative weight
In some cases a negative weight and a zero are displayed alternately. In almost all cases this occurs due
to mechanical vibrations generated by the elastic load slings. These vibrations can also be caused by
improper belt arrangements used to fasten the dynamometer. Although weighing operations are possible
under those conditions, it is strongly recommended that you check, repair or replace the parts causing
those vibrations in order to obtain higher weighing precision.
