INSTALLATION
Pre-installation:
Handling:
This equipment contains static sensitive devices and proper static free handling precautions should be observed.
Do not remove the lid. Dangerous mains voltage may exist inside and service should only be done by qualified
service personnel.
Where individual circuit cards are stored, they should be placed in antistatic bags. Proper antistatic procedures
should be followed when inserting or removing cards from these bags.
Power:
AC mains supply:
AC mains input (PSU 1) is via an IEC mains connector on the rear of the assembly. AC input is
limited between 90Vac and 264Vac, thus the unit is suitable for all country’s standard mains
levels without the need for switching between levels. A 1 amp slow blow fuse is fitted in the
IEC connector in line with the active mains voltage.
DC supply:
DC supply input is via two DC locking jacks (PSU 2 & PSU 3) suitable for external +12Vdc
power packs (50W minimum rating) fitted with a 2.1mm inner diameter/5.5mm outer
diameter connector plug with a locking thread lock. The locking thread keeps the DC plug
securely in place, but is not a necessity for operation.
Any of the three power inlets may be used independently, or together for power supply redundancy.
NOTE: There is no ON/OFF switch. The DTR-1000 will power on as soon as an external power source is applied.
Earthing:
The frame is earthed via the AC mains input signal earth being connected to the chassis. Where a mains earth is
not present, signal earth is also connected directly to the chassis.
Rear Panel – Power/Ethernet Decal Connections:
The model number is printed on the back of the unit, along with the unit’s serial number, on the Power/Ethernet
decal, as shown below. For this example, this decal unit’s model number is DTR-1000/12Tx+4Rx+E. Apart from the
model number, this Power/Ethernet decal is common to all models of DTR-1000.
Input Power:
Input power is via either an IEC power connector (PSU 1) plugged into a 90Vac to 264Vac source, so is suitable for
all world standards of mains AC power; or via two DC locking jacks (PSU 2 & PSU 3) suitable for ex12Vdc
power packs (50W minimum rating) fitted with a 2.1mm inner diameter/5.5mm outer diameter DC connector plug
with a locking thread lock. The locking thread keeps the DC plug securely in place, but is not a necessity for
operation. Any of the three power inlets may be used independently, or together for power supply redundancy.
Control:
The Control connector is an RJ-45 connector for CAT-5 twisted pair Ethernet cable. It operates at 10Mbps
(10base-T) or 100Mbps (100Base-T). It is called a Control port but really it is a Monitoring port. Channel Aliases are,
however, set via this port. The actual control is via a web-based Ethernet browser addressed to the IP address of
the unit. The web based browser window will be discussed in
Operation
section of this manual.
