Installing/Removing the Batteries - TDX

7.32.1
Removing the Batteries
1.
Place the wheelchair in a well ventilated area where work can be
performed without risking damage to carpeting or floor covering.
2.
Perform one of the following -
•
If there is power in the batteries, elevate the seat to the
highest position. Refer to the owner’s manual shipped with
wheelchair.
•
If there is no power left in the batteries, perform one of
the following -
– If external 12 to 24 volts DC power source is available to
elevate the seat, perform of the following:
♦
Connect the external power source to the elevate
actuator connector. Refer to .
♦
Elevate the seat to the highest position. Refer to the
owner’s manual shipped with wheelchair.
•
If external power source is not available to elevate the seat,
remove the seat assembly. Refer to 7.33 Removing/Installing
the Seat Assembly (TDX SP with Elevating Seat), page 77.
3.
Verify the joystick On/Off switch is in the Off position and
disconnect joystick. Refer to 7.26 Disconnecting/Connecting
the SPJ+ Joysticks, page 68 or 7.27 Disconnecting/Connecting
the CMPJ+ Joysticks, page 69.
4.
Remove the rear, front and top shrouds. Refer to
5.
Disconnect the following:
•
The battery wiring harness
A
from the controller connector
B
.
•
The drive limit switch
C
from the magnetic switch
controller connector
D
.
•
The elevate actuator
E
from the actuator controller
connector
F
.
6.
Disconnect the front battery lead
G
from the rear battery lead
