Field of application/ Target group
Excerpt from the GKV Association
Therapy chairs/seating aids consist of wood/metal
frame constructions, with adjustable parts in several
areas Most of these seating aids have a chassis with
rollers and consist of an upholstered seat, back and
side parts or a rigid seat shell Further components
include back extensions or a head rest, abduction
pommel, side pads, foot rests, fixation systems and a
therapy tray table
Insured persons can sit safely and stably in the therapy
chair and participate more actively in life, eg through a
raised seating position and, if necessary, also through
adjustable seat heights
Therapy chairs are suitable for children and adoles-
cents who cannot sit freely on standard seating furni-
ture, but whose restricted trunk posture does not yet
require a seat shell
An important prerequisite for the meaningful use of
this seating aid is that the freedom of movement of
the hands is not restricted, so that it is possible for
the insured person to maintain or expand motor skills
