afdisk
is a SCSI disk partitioning and high-level formatting utility. You
must use this utility to partition SCSI disks that are not mounted by the
486MIS BIOS.
afdisk
allows you to add or delete a DOS partition or to
delete a non-DOS partition.
afdisk.exe
and its accompanying files
afdisk.hlp
(the help file) and
afdisk.cwa
(the system file)
are copied automatically to your fixed disk
when you run the DOS/WINDOWS DRIVERS Install program.
afdisk
disk partitions are mounted when you boot your machine with the
aspidisk
driver. Partitions that you create with
afdisk
are completely
compatible with DOS partitions.
Partitions that are moved to 486MIS BIOS control are bootable if they
were high-level formatted to include the system files (e.g., using the
/s
option of DOS
format.com).
In order for a SCSI disk to be bootable, the
DOS version used must be 3.3 or later. We recommend that you do a
DOS high-level format (using
format
)
on all media partitioned with
afdisk
before you use it.
afdisk Command Line Options
There are two
afdisk
command line options you can use when starting
the program. The syntax of the afdisk command is:
[path]afdisk [/m or /mono] [/?]
You can type command line options in either lowercase or uppercase
letters. Each option is preceded by a forward slash and should be
separated from other options by at least one blank space.
/m or /mono
This option forces
afdisk
to run in black and white mode. This capability
is provided because
afdisk
screens do not display properly on some
laptop, monochrome VGA and other displays.
If the
/m
option does not correct any screen display problem, try
executing the DOS mode
bw8O
command before running
afdisk.
Remember to issue a DOS mode
co8O
command after you are finished
with the program.
Example: afdisk /mono
