Chapter Five Operating System Installation
This chapter primarily focuses on the method for installing the prevailing operat-
ing system to the server. The Ruijie server kit supports the following operating systems
that can be installed intelligently and automatically, such as Windows Server 2003,
Windows Server 2008 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2. The con
fi
guration of onboard
Intel SATA HostRaid of the server does not support the automatic setup of these operat-
ing systems. So the operating systems shall be manually set up according to the actual
demand. The con
fi
guration with external RAID card uses Ruijie kit intelligent installa-
tion operating system, so for the operating steps, please refer to corresponding chapters
and sections of User Manual for Ruijie server kit.
During manual setup of the operating system, some operating system may need
the
fl
oppy driver or Inspur driver U disk to load the drive of hard disk controller. Re-
fer to the readme.pdf
fi
le under the root directory in Inspur driver CD for the making
method of the driver
fl
oppy disk. If the system you purchased is con
fi
gured with Inspur
driver U disk, you may refer to relevant contents of this chapter for the making method
of driver U disk.
If your server is con
fi
gured with external RAID card or SAS sub-card, please re-
fer to the electronic version of User Manual in the CD attached to the external RAID
card or SAS sub-card to add the driver for the hard disk controller. If it uses onboard
SATA controller, please make the driver of controller according to the accompanied
system driver CD. For network card driver, graphics driver and system patch program,
the guidance in the chapter can also be referred to for setup.
This is for manual setup of operating system and it takes two con
fi
gurations of
onboard SATA HostRaid and onboard SATA IDE as examples. If your server is con
fi
g-
ured with other external RAID card, please refer to User Manual in the attached CD to
add the driver for the hard disk controller. For network card driver, graphics driver and
system patch program, the guidance in the chapter can also be referred to for setup.
It is suggested that you con

rm in advance that the purchased machine con-
fi
guration supports the version of the installed operating system.
The con
fi
guration of onboard Intel SATA HostRaid of this server only sup-
ports Windows operating system, but not for Linux operating system.
