3. POWER SUPPLY AND STARTING-UP
• This product is supplied with a 16 A, CEE7/7 plug and must be connected to a single-phase, earthed electrical sys-
tem between 208 - 240 VAC (50 - 60 Hz). The effective absorbed current (I1eff) for the device’s maximum operating
conditions is indicated on the device.
Check that the power supply and its safeguards (fuse and/or circuit breaker) are compatible with the current required for
use. This device is designed to operate on an electrical system equipped with a 16 A / C, D or K curve circuit breaker.
It may be necessary in some countries to change the plug to achieve the maximum operating conditions. The operator
must ensure that the plug socket is easily accessible.
• Switching the device on is done by turning the ON/OFF switch to the I position.
• The device will go into protection mode if the supply voltage is higher than 265 V AC (the mes-
sage ‘MAINS FAILURE’ will be displayed on the screen). Normal operation will resume as soon
as the supply voltage returns to its nominal range.
3.1. CONNECTING TO A BATTERY-BASED POWER SOURCE
This equipment can operate with single-phase welding machine’s provided they meet the following requirements:
- The voltage should be AC and set as specified
(208 - 240 VAC)
with a peak voltage of less than 400 V.
- The frequency should be between 50 - 60 Hz.
- The power level must be
at least
15 kVA.
It is essential that these conditions are checked, as many welding power sources produce high voltage spikes that can
damage equipment.
3.2. USING EXTENSION CABLES
This equipment may be connected to the electricity supply using an extension cable, provided that it meets the fol
-
lowing requirements:
- It must be a single-phase extension cable with an earthed conductor.
- The extension cable must not be any longer than 10 metres.
- The conductor cross-section must not be less than
2.5 mm².
3.3. CONNECTING THE GUN TO THE DEVICE
Connecting and disconnecting the gun-control connector to the
power source’s outlet socket must be done when the power
source is switched off.
The gun-control connection ring must always be properly
screwed onto the power source’s baseplate before the device is
switched on.
It is possible to connect an
ARCPULL 700
gun to this power source. In this case, use dinse adaptors
(
25 - 50 mm²
/
038127 x2) to connect the gun’s dinse to the welding machine’s outlets.
