5.1 Basic adjustment of the input channels

First set all gain controls (5), equalizer controls (6),
and the crossfader (13) to mid-position. To switch on
the DJ microphone, set the selector switch MIC (11)
from the left position (“OFF”) to mid-position “ON”
(LED above the switch lights up).

Level control of a channel:
1) Use the selector switch (4) to select the input to

which the audio source is connected.

2) With the master control (15), the total level of all

connected audio sources is adjusted. Set the con-
trol to approx.

2

/

3

of its maximum, e. g. to position 7.

3) Feed an audio signal (test signal or music piece) to

the channel. Switch off the units which are to play
on the other channels or set them to pause.

4) Via the LED VU-meter (2), control the level of the

channel with the fader (8). An optimum level control
is obtained if level values in the 0 dB range are
shown at average volume. If the red LEDs of the VU-
meter light up, there is an overload of the channel.

After level adjustment, the fader should be at

approx.

2

/

of its maximum. With the fader ad-

vanced only slightly or very far, the level must be
matched by adjusting the input amplification: Turn
up or turn back the gain control (5) of the channel
accordingly (if required, the gain control can also be
fully turned to “MIN” or “MAX”).

5) Then adjust the desired sound with the equalizer

controls (6) of the channel. By adjusting the three
equalizer controls, the high frequencies (control
HIGH), the midrange frequencies (control MID),
and the low frequencies (control LOW) can be
boosted (15 dB max.) or substantially attenuated
(30 dB max.) With the controls in mid-position, the
frequency response is not affected.

Note: Sound adjustments affect the level. There-

fore, after adjusting the sound, check the
channel level with the VU-meter and readjust
it, if required.

6) Make the level and sound adjustments for the other

connected input channels as described above.

5.2 Crossfading between two channels

The crossfader (13) allows crossfading between chan-
nel 2 (preassigned) and channel 3 or channel 4 [to be
selected via the button C.F. ASSIGN (16)].

1) Control channels 2 to 4 to an optimum level (see

chapter 5.1 “Basic adjustment of the input chan-
nels”) and use the button C.F. ASSIGN (16) to se-
lect either channel 3 or channel 4 for the cross-
fading feature:
button not pressed:

channel 3

button pressed:

channel 4

2) Switch off the stereo audio sources which are not

used or set them to pause.

3) Define with the button C.F. REVERSE (12) to which

side of the crossfader (13) the channels are switched:

button not pressed (LED above the button does not
light up)

left side of the crossfader:

channel 2

right side of the crossfader:

channel 3 or 4

button pressed (LED above the button lights up)

left side of the crossfader:

channel 3 or 4

right side of the crossfader:

channel 2

4) Now crossfading between the two channels is pos-

sible:

crossfader moved to the left:

fade-in of the channel switched to the left side of
the crossfader
fade-out of the channel switched to the right side
of the crossfader

crossfader moved to the right:

fade-in of the channel switched to the right side
of the crossfader
fade-out of the channel switched to the left side
of the crossfader

5) The control C.F. CURVE (10) allows to continuously

adjust the crossfading characteristic:

With the control at the left stop (position “FLAT”),

crossfading is smooth (the level of the channel
faded in slowly increases while the level of the
channel faded out slowly decreases). The further
the control is turned to the right, the more abrupt
the crossfading.

6) Via the VU-meter (2), adjust the desired level avail-

able at the master outputs (23 and 24) with the
master control (15).

Usually an optimum level control is obtained if

the VU-meter shows values in the 0 dB range at
average volume. However, if the output level at the
master outputs is too high for the following unit, the
master signal must be controlled to a correspond-
ing lower level. If the output level is too low for the
following unit, set the level selector switch OUT-
PUT VOLTAGE (19) for the master outputs to “2 V”
(Note: Doubling of the output level from 1 V to 2 V
does not result in a doubled volume but only in an
increase by 6 dB.)

5.3 Mixing the connected audio sources

1) Move the crossfader (13) to mid-position.

2) Use the faders (8) of the input channels to adjust

the desired volume ratio of the audio sources to
one another: Adjust the audio levels to be played at
the highest volume to an optimum level (see chap-
ter 5.1) and reduce the levels of the other audio
sources accordingly.

If a channel is not used, its level control should

be set to minimum.

3) Via the VU-meter (2), adjust the level of the master

signal with the master control (15) [see chapter 5.2,
item 6].
