Setting the Fiber Input Switch

D, a single 3-position switch at the card edge (see
Figure 2-1 ) locally controls the fiber inputs, or sets the module to
remote control by CCS. The switch provides the following options:
•
Port 1 Connected
• Automatic Mode (CCS remote control)
• Port 2 Connected

When you select Port 1 Connected or Port 2 Connected using the
switch, the module accepts the signal as it is received from the
designated port.
When you select
Automatic Mode control, CCS control panels and
software are enabled. This makes it possible for you to either use
automatic selection (in which the module selects one of the two inputs,
based on light intensity), or manual selection.
When in automatic mode, the module selects the incoming source based
on the
Signal Good Threshold and the Switch Threshold parameter
settings (see “Setting Parameters” on page 22 ).
