Chapter 2: Installation
Removing Modules
NOTE
The removal steps provided here are similar to those outlined in
your
FR6802
+
Frame Installation and Operation Manual. Refer to
that manual for detailed information about installing and operating
an FR6802
+
frame and its components.
Front Module
Follow these steps to remove a front module from an FR6802
+
frame:
1. Pull out the finger-release screws on the right and left side of the
front panel of the frame, and then open it.
2. On the front module, pull the locking latch knob to the right (on the
OBS
+
OP
+
5050D) or to the left (on the OPSS
+
OP
+
D) to release
the module.
The latch should easily slide to its up, released position.
3. Grasp the extractor handle on the installed module, and then pull
the module out of its slot; use the handle as a lever.
4. Close the front panel to ensure proper frame ventilation.
Back Module
Follow these steps to remove a back module from an FR6802
+
frame:
1. Turn off the frame.
2. Remove the front module, as described above.
CAUTION
Although front modules can be hot-swapped, back modules can
only be safely installed or removed when the frame’s power is off.
Always remove the front module before the back module.
3. Unscrew the top of the corresponding back module, and then tip it
towards you.
4. Pull the bottom lip of the back module from its slot.
5. Reinstall a new or blank back plate in the empty slot to ensure
proper frame ventilation.
6. Reinstall the front module and then repower the frame.
