3. RECEIVING
Local movement may be accomplished by towing the unit or by using appropriate
lifting device using a spreader bar attached to the fore and aft frame members.
When towing or transporting by lifting equipment, care should be taken to ensure
all access doors/panels, hose(s), and ground power cable(s) are securely
closed/fastened in place.
A. Initial Inspection:
(Refer to appropriate Supplemental Technical Manual(s) based on unit
model)
(1) Remove any crating or water resistant material envelope.
(2) Thoroughly inspect the exterior of the unit for any damage incurred during
shipment. Open and close all access doors and, checking latches and
hinges for proper operation.
(3) Inspect all indicator/gauge glass and indicator light lenses for evidence of
cracks or damage.
(4) Open access doors/canopy panels and inspect the unit interior.

Check fuel system for leakage.
•
Check electrical wiring for exposed wiring.
•
Check the entire unit for loose connections, parts, bolts, nuts or other
hardware that may have been loosened during transit. Tighten or
repair all discrepancies.
CAUTION
BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CONNECT THE BATTERIES, ENSURE ALL
SWITCHES ARE SET TO OFF OR NEUTRAL SETTING.
(5) Verify all switches are normalized. (See Figure 1)

On Genset Control Panel, set
TEST/OFF/AUTO
toggle switch (if
equipped) to
OFF

(6) Connect the battery cables. Ensure positive ("+") and negative ("-")
terminal leads are connected to proper battery posts.
(7) Check engine oil level. Do not operate the unit if the oil level is below the
"L" (low) mark of the dipstick. Service with appropriate oil as required.
Refer to appropriate Supplemental Technical Manual(s) as required.
(8) Inspect radiator coolant level. Service as required. Refer to appropriate
Supplemental Technical Manual(s) as required.
B. Return To Service:
Refer to Section 1-2 and perform "Pre-Operational Inspections" as required.
