STORAGE
1. GENERAL
This Section provides instructions for preparing the unit for both short- and long-
term storage. When the unit is to be stored or removed from operation, use the
following procedures to protect the internal and external components from rust,
corrosion, or damage. (Refer to appropriate Supplemental Technical Manual(s)
as required.)
2. PREPARATION FOR STORAGE
A. Short-Term Storage (less than three months):
The following steps are recommended if the unit is to be placed out of service
for three (3) months or less. The unit should be prepared for storage as soon
as possible after being removed from service.
(1) Check coolant mixture is adequate for the lowest anticipated temperatures
during time of storage. (Refer to Supplemental Technical Manual as
required.)
(2) Check engine oil level and add oil as required to bring level to FULL mark
on dip stick.
WARNING
USE EXTREME CARE WHEN SERVICING FUEL TANK DRAIN AS SOME FUEL
MAY SPILL/LEAK. ENSURE PROPER PERSONNEL EYE SAFETY EQUIPMENT
AND FUEL CATCH METHODS ARE USED TO PREVENT UNNECESSARY FUEL
SPILAGE OR PERSONNEL INJURY.
NOTE
Do not completely drain crankcase oil or fuel system.
(3) Drain a small portion of fuel from fuel tank by removing drain plug at
bottom of tank. This will remove any water, which may have accumulated
at the bottom of the fuel tank.
(4) Install new fuel filters. (Refer to Supplement Technical Manual(s) as
required.)
