Cleaning the system
For cleaning disconnect
the main plug!
After the result has been recorded, you can take
out the decomposition vessel, open it and clean it.
If you suspect that the combustion sample, the
combustion gases produced or the combustion
residue could be harmful to health, wear perso-
nal protective equipment (e.g. protective gloves,
breathing masks) when handling these materials.
Harmful or polluting combustion residue must be
disposed of as hazardous waste. Express reference
is made to the applicable regulations.
In order to obtain accurate measurements it is
essential that the decomposition vessel is clean
and dry. Impurities alter the heat capacity of the
decomposition vessel and thus cause inaccurate
measuring results. It is important to thoroughly
clean the inner walls of the vessel, the internal fit-
tings (brackets, electrodes etc.) and the combus-
tion crucible (inside and out!) after each combus-
tion test.
In most cases all that is necessary is to remove
condensate from the inner walls of the vessel and
the internal fittings. It is sufficient to thoroughly
wipe the parts with an absorbent, non-fibrous
cloth.
If the decomposition vessel cannot be cleaned in
the above way (e.g. due to baking, pitting, corro-
sion etc.), please contact Technical Service.
The combustion residue in the crucible, e.g. soot
or ashes, should also be wiped away with an ab-
sorbent non-fibrous cloth.
Repairs
Please only send devices in for repair that have
been cleaned and are free of materials which
might present health hazards.
For this, use the “
certificate of compliance
” form
which you can obtain from
IKA
®
or can download
a version for printing from the
IKA
®
website at
www.ika.com.
If your appliance requires repair, return it in its ori-
ginal packaging. Storage packaging is not suffici-
ent when sending the device - also use appropria-
te transport packaging.
Servicing and cleaning the filter
Servicing
Check the filter every week or according to expe-
rience. Over time the filter becomes clogged with
sludge thereby causing a reduction in the cooling
water flow rate.
Do not use distilled or demineralized water
(increased risk of corrosion)!
Fill the cooler
according to the cooler operating instructions. is
recommended in drinking tap water quality. Mix
in (max. 1 ml for 4-5 l of water) of the supplied
water additive. Thus, the durability of the water is
improved.
You can prepare a maximum of 12 measurements
in the sample rack, and process them in any or-
der. The assignment remains saved even when the
IKA
®
C 6000 global standards/isoperibol
calori-
meter is switched off. If a crucible unsuitable for
the specified procedure is set or taken out, a mes-
sage appears and the action must be reversed.
Caution: if you change the assignment of the
sample rack whilst the
IKA
®
C 6000 global stan-
dards/isoperibol
calorimeter is switched off you
must discard all samples!
In serious cases (such as accidental removal of
crucibles whilst the calorimeter is switched off),
click on the „Reset sample rack“ button. This
deactivates the sample rack. Remove all the cruci-
bles still standing in the sample rack. The measu-
rements for them still remain displayed in the list
but can no longer be used. After this you can once
again click on „Use sample rack“.
When the
IKA
®
C 6000 global standards/isope-
ribol
calorimeter is restarted the last rack assign-
ment is saved and can continue to be used.
