586MBH Manual

Using Figure 1-4, locate the diagonal notch on the CPU chip. This notch represents pin one. The
Pentium processor also has small dot as well indicating pin 1. DO NOT USE THE CHIP LOGO
OR LETTERING TO LOCATE PIN ONE.

Locate the CPU socket on your 586MBH system board. Pin 1 on the socket is located in the lower
left hand corner of the socket.

Figure 1-5: CPU Alignment

To install the Pentium processor lift the lever of the ZIF socket and gently insert the CPU. Make
sure the CPU is inserted all the way. Lower the lever. See figure 1-5.

This completes the installation of the CPU. Now is a good time to double check both the CPU and
SIMM installation to make sure that these devices have been properly installed.
