Voice Scrambler function
The Voice Scrambler function provides private
communication between stations.
Push [Scrambler/Encryption] to turn the Voice
Scrambler function ON or OFF.
• “ ” (Portable) or “ ” (Mobile) is displayed when the
Scrambler function is ON.

When the Scrambler function is ON, push [PTT] to make
a private communication between stations by using a
scrambled code.
Encryption function
The Encryption function makes the voice or data
communication between stations private by using an
Encryption Key and Key ID.
The same Encryption Key and Key ID must be set in
all stations to communicate.
When the Encryption mode is “Low Level,” the
voice or data communication is encrypted with a bit
scramble method.
In this case, you can set the Encryption Key and Key
ID using the programming software.
When the Encryption mode is “High Level,” the voice
or data communication is encrypted with a DES (Data
Encryption Standard) or AES (Advanced Encryption
Standard ) method.
In this case, the CS-KLD1
key
loader
is required to
set the Encryption Key and Key ID.
See the CS-KLD1 Help file for details.
Push [Scrambler/Encryption] to turn the Encryption
function ON or OFF.

When the Encryption function is ON, push [PTT] to make
a private communication between stations.
Key Lock function
You can use the Key Lock function to prevent
accidental channel changes and unnecessary function
access.

All assignable keys except the following are electronically
locked: [Monitor], [Light], [Lock], [Emergency], and
[Surveillance]. Also, [PTT] and [Power] are usable.
Hold down [Lock] for 1 second to turn the Key Lock
function ON or OFF.
RAN is a signaling system designed for digital radio
communications.
When a channel is set up with a RAN, the squelch will
open only when a call containing a matching RAN is
received.
If a call containing a different RAN is made on the
same channel the user is using, the user will not hear
the call.

Manual Dialing
The user can send DTMF codes.
While holding down [PTT], push the keys on the Ten-
key pad.
NOTE for the Mobile type transceiver:
The optional DTMF microphone is required.
