Chapter 5. Configuring the appliance
The following configuration programs are provided with your appliance:

Configuration/Setup Utility
This program Configuration/Setup Utility is part of the
basic input/output system
(
BIOS
) that comes with your appliance. You can use this program to configure
serial and parallel port assignments, change interrupt request (IRQ) settings,
change the drive startup sequence, set the date and time, and set passwords.
See “Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program” on page 94 for more
information.

SCSISelect Utility
With the built-in SCSISelect Utility program, you can configure the devices
attached to the integrated SCSI controller. See “Using the SCSISelect utility
program” on page 101 for more information.

ServeRAID programs
The ServeRAID programs come with the appliance. You must use the ServeRAID
Configuration program to define and configure your disk-array subsystem.
Starting and stopping the appliance
This section provides instructions for starting and stopping the appliance.
Starting the appliance
After you plug the power cord of your appliance into the power supply and an
electrical outlet, the appliance can be started in several ways:

Press the Power control button on the front of the appliance (see “Appliance
controls and indicators” on page 1) to start the appliance.
Note:
After you plug the power cord into an electrical outlet, wait approximately
20 seconds before pressing the Power control button. During this time, the
system-management processor is initializing and the Power control button
does not respond.
Figure 1 on page 1 and Figure 2 on page 2 show the controls and indicators on
the front of the appliance.

If the appliance is turned on, a power failure occurs and unattended-start mode is
enabled in the Configuration/Setup utility program, the appliance starts
automatically when power is restored.

If ac power is present, the appliance is off and the wake-up feature is enabled in
the Configuration/Setup utility program, the wake-up feature turns on the
appliance at the set time.

If ac power is present, the appliance is off, and ring signal detect is enabled in
the Configuration/Setup utility program, turn ON the appliance by telephone input.

The Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor also can turn on the
appliance.
Note:
The first time you start the appliance, a series of configuration and system
preparation programs that configure the network operating system are run
automatically. These programs must finish running before you use any
included applications to connect to or configure the Network Attached
Storage 200. Do not connect to or configure the Network Attached Storage
