Chapter 3. Managing the router and monitoring components
The router is engineered for reliability and requires no routine operational
maintenance. However, this chapter provides information about determining the
overall status of the system and each of its components using LEDs and CLI
commands.
This chapter provides the following information:

Managing the router
You can use the management functions built into the router to monitor the fabric
topology, port status, physical status, and other information to help you analyze
router performance and to accelerate system debugging.
Note: The router automatically performs power-on self-test (POST) each time it is
turned on. Any errors are recorded in the error log. For more information
about POST, see “Interpreting POST results” on page 36.
You can manage the router using any of the management options listed in Table 8.
