If two devices are on a single cable, and only one is a hard disk drive,
the hard disk drive must be set as the master device.

If you have only one device on a cable, it must be set as master.
For help in selecting drives, cables, and other options for your computer, do

IBM reseller, or your IBM marketing representative.

Within Canada, call 1-800-565-3344 or 1-800-465-7999.
Ÿ
Outside the United States and Canada, contact your IBM reseller or
IBM marketing representative.
Installing Internal Drives
Before you begin:

Read “Safety Information” on page vii and “Handling
Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 54.
Ÿ
Turn off the computer and all other connected devices.
Ÿ
Disconnect all external cables and power cords, and then remove
the computer cover (see “Removing the Cover” on page 56).
