Working with hot-plug PCI adapters
This section provides the instructions needed to replace a hot-plug PCI adapter.
Notes:
1.
Installation of adapters is unsupported in slots 1 and 2.
2.
Hot-plug adapters are installed in slots 3 through 10 only, counting from right to
left while facing the back of the server.
3.
Hot-plug operation requires operating system support and installation of the
required device drivers. You can determine if an adapter that is validated by IBM
supports hot-plug operation at:
http://www.ibm.com/pc/us/compat/hotplug/index.shtml. Also, refer to the
documentation provided with the adapter for information and support.
Complete the following steps to replace a hot-plug PCI adapter:
1.
Review the information in “Before you begin” on page 3.
Note:
Statement 15
CAUTION:
Make sure that the rack is secured properly to avoid tipping when the server
unit is extended.
Statement 16
CAUTION:
Some accessory or option board outputs exceed Class 2 or limited power
source limits and must be installed with appropriate interconnecting
cabling in accordance with the national electric code.
2.
Slide the server out of the rack.
