Chapter 7. Upgrading software images and configuration files

This chapter describes the software images required to operate c-series switches
and how to load them onto the switch. The images required are described in
Table 10.

Note:

The device must have an IP address. If the device does not already have an
IP address, configure one by entering the

ip address <ip-addr> <ip-mask>

command at the global CONFIG level of the CLI.

Images and procedures required

The software images required and the procedures for upgrading have been
changed as described in the following sections:

describes each of the images required to operate the c-series switches.

“Upgrading the multi-service IronWare software” on page 48 - This subsection
describes the procedures required for your software upgrade depending upon
the version you are upgrading from or to. Links are provided to the required
procedures as required.

subsection describes the commands that allow you to determine the contents of
the switch’s flash memory and how to read the output of those commands.
