4.11 Breaking In New Machines
Verify pitch
link assembly
Verify that the horizontal blade pitch links are properly assembled.
While seated on the machine, look at the right rotor. There should be an “R”
designation on the upper portion of the pitch link. The left rotor should have an “L”
on the pitch link.
Break in
gearboxes
To break in the gearboxes, run the engine at 50% of full throttle for the first 2–4
hours. This will prevent premature wear and extend gear life.
NOTICE: Running the engine at full throttle during the break-in period could result
in premature gear failure.
