Centrifugal clutch
The centrifugal clutch has the task of transferring the power from the engine to the drive axle of the cutting equipment.
As the name implies, it works according to a centrifugal principle.
This means the friction shoes of the clutch are thrown in the direction of the clutch drum at a certain engine speed.
When the friction against the drum is sufficient, it drives the drive shaft at the same speed as the engine.
Some slipping occurs between the clutch and the clutch drum when accelerating as well as in the reversed situation
when the cutting equipment jams. This prevents abnormal load changes on the crankshaft.
The engagement speed is carefully tested so that the engine can idle without the drive shaft of the cutting equipment
rotating.
11.1 Dismantling
The clutch is located between the fuel tank and the
engine.
To access the clutch, move the tank and the handle
holder forward on the shaft. See figure 1.
1. Empty fuel tank.
2.
Remove the handlebar with the wing nut (C). See
figure 1.
3.
Remove the cable protector (B). See figure 1.
4. Remove the cover lid on the fuel tank and loosen
electrical cables.
5. Remove the fuel hoses from the grommet and fuel
pump. See figure 2.
6.
Loosen the two screws (A). See figure 3.
7. Slide the fuel tank and handlebar mount forward on
the shaft. See figure 3.
