Input: Connect your guitar to this input using a shielded cord equip-
ped with 6.3 mm (1/4") jack plugs.
●
2
Send/Line Out: Connect this jack to the input of an external effects
device.
Note: This output provides the pure and unfiltered amp signal including the
saturation of the output stage. In combination with software-based speaker
and microphone emulations, this provides endless recording possibilities.
●
3
Return: Connect this jack to the (mono) output of an effects device.
Note: This input feeds the signal directly to the power amplifier, which
provides completely neutral amplification. Thus, the StompMan can also
be used as a neutral power amp, e.g., for modeling amps that already
provide a signal including the sound of the output stage. Master and Solo
are still available for volume control. Since the FX-Loop is switchable, it
is also possible to switch between StompMan and an “external” sound
generation tone generator.
There is another interesting possibility when combined with cabinet
simulations and passive FRFR or PA speakers. This not only allows modeling
amps that deliver a "finished" signal including cabinet simulation to be
played via a passive FRFR speaker, but it also allows to use a cabinet
simulation in the StompMan's FX Loop.

Solo Volume: This control can be used to set a fixed level jump lets
you bump up the volume beyond the Master level between 0 and +6 dB
relative to the Master, e.g., to achieve the desired increase in volume at the
touch of a button when switching to Solo. This approach means that only
the Master volume needs to be set when adjusting the overall volume, and
the Solo volume is automatically adjusted as well.

Mode: This switch defines what the Bypass / FX Loop footswitch
activates.
Mode switch in Bypass position: If Bypass is activated, the red LED above
the footswitch lights up and the signal at the Input jack is routed directly
to the power amp section, Gain and Tone no longer have any effect. In
contrast to the FX Loop's return, which is only affected by Master and
Solo, the power amp controls for Sagging, Presence and Resonance are still
active. Ideal for amplification and sound refinement of upstream preamps
or modelers. To adjust the input level there is a trim knob on the bottom
panel, see section “Bottom Panel”.
Mode switch in the FX Loop position: this switches the serial FX Loop on
and off. If the FX Loop is active, the LED above the button lights up red.
This button takes either the StompMan's preamp (Gain and Tone controls)
out of the signal path or switches the FX Loop on/off, depending on the
position of the Mode switch on the rear panel.
Note: StompMan remembers the last selected state of the footswitch. For
example, if the FX Loop has been activated, the FX Loop will remain active
even if the Mode switch is set to the Bypass position and vice versa. When
using the footswitch to toggle the FX Loop and noticing that Gain and Tone
can no longer be controlled, the Mode switch has to be set back to Bypass
and Bypass has to be deactivated.

Power: This button is used to turn the StompMan on and off.

AES: EC Commission Regulation no. 1275/2008 requires electronic
devices to be equipped with a power-saving function that switches off
the device after a specified period of non-use. Your StompMan does this
with a circuit called AES. The mini switch next to the Power button and
Speaker Out jack enables and disables this auto shutdown feature. By
default, the mini switch is in the On (right) position and AES is activated.
In this setting, the amp switches off after a period of inactivity of
approximately 90 minutes. The idle state is reset and starts again from
the beginning as soon as the amplifier receives an input signal, e.g., when
a short tone is played. Even a low signal is sufficient and will restart the
90-minute countdown to shutdown. If the device has shut down after
the 90-minute idle period, it can be restarted with the power switch.
By sliding the mini switch (to the left), the AES and thus the automatic
shutdown of the device is deactivated.

Speaker: The speaker output is designed for speakers with an impe-
dance of 4 to 16 ohms. Any kind of guitar speakers can be connected
– the power amp has enough power to drive 4x12 cabinets as well. A full
stack configuration is also possible if desired.
Please be sure to note: When connecting two speakers, the impedance of
each speaker must be at least 8 ohms, as the total impedance is halved to
4 ohms when connected in parallel. The recommended Hughes & Kett-
ner TS 112 Pro, TM 112 and TM 212 guitar speakers each have an impe-
dance of 16 ohms and offer a parallel output to which a second speaker
of the same type can be connected.

VDC: Tnput jack for connecting the supplied universal power sup-
ply, which works reliably worldwide at any mains voltage and guarantees
consistent sound quality at all times. Please always use the original power
supply.
Caution: Please always connect the power supply to the StompMan first
and then connect the power supply to a wall outlet.
along with the channels. See section 3, Smart Mode, for more on this.
