Abnormal bypass

Step 3

After the inverter shuts down, turn off the external output switches.

Step 4

Open the BCB. If multiple battery strings are installed, open the main circuit breaker between
battery strings and the UPS and then open the circuit breaker for each battery string.

Step 5

Turn off the external input switches and the UPS internal switches. There are two types of
UPS internal switches:



To power off a UPS in full configuration (configured with an internal mains input switch,
internal bypass input switch, internal output switch, and internal maintenance bypass
switch), perform the following operations:

a.

Turn off the UPS internal mains and bypass input switches.

b.

Turn off the internal output switch.

c.

Turn off the external mains and bypass input switches.

d.

Open the input surge protection circuit breaker (if any) on the input PDC.



To power off a UPS in standard configuration (configured only with an internal
maintenance bypass switch), perform the following operations:

a.

Turn off the external mains and bypass input switches.

b.

Open the input surge protection circuit breaker (if any) on the input PDC.

If you need only to shut down inverters to transfer the UPS to bypass mode, perform only

after

checking that the UPS has generated no alarm; if you need to shut down the UPS, perform all the
preceding steps.

5.1.3 Starting the UPS in Battery Mode

Procedure

Step 1

Use a multimeter to check that the sum of the absolute voltage of the negative battery string
and the voltage of the positive battery string is greater than a certain value (2.0 x Number of
cells) to ensure that the batteries are connected properly.
