3.3.2 Connecting Console Cable

When configuring the switch at the terminal, connect the Console cable as

described below:

Step 1: Plug the DB-9 female connector of Console cable to the serial port of the PC

where the switch is to be configured.

Step 2: Connect the RJ-45 connector of Console cable to the Console port of the

switch.

Caution:

Identify the interface before plugging the connector into it.

Note:

You cannot insert or remove the serial plug in or from the PC when the switch is powered on. For
connecting the PC to the switch, first connect the DB-9 end to the PC and then the RJ-45 end to the
switch. Remove it in inverse order.
