4.2 Connecting to the Internet Through an Ethernet
Interface
This section describes how to connect to the Internet through an Ethernet interface.
Networking Requirements
, the router functions as the PPPoE client and connects user devices to
the PPPoE server. The user devices use the same user account. If the account is successfully
authenticated by the PPPoE server, a PPPoE session is established.
The router obtains an IP address from the PPPoE server. The user devices can be assigned static
IP addresses on the network segment 192.168.1.0/24 or obtain dynamic IP addresses from the
router (DHCP server).
