Selecting the network to connect to when roaming

Your phone is set to

and we’ve designed it to

automatically search for the appropriate network in your location

(CDMA or GSM) and then connect to it.

Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings.
Tap Call > Preferred Network, and then select

CDMA Mode

GSM / UMTS Mode

If you selected

GSM / UMTS Mode

, you can choose to connect to:

GSM / UMTS Dual

. Your phone automatically connects to a G

or G network, whichever is available.

GSM only

. Your phone connects only to the G (GPRS or

EDGE) network. Choose this option when you don’t need fast

data connection. Your phone will also use less power if you

choose this option.

UMTS only

. Your phone connects only to the G network.

Choose this option when you need fast data connection. Your

phone will also use more power if you choose this option.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 00

feet (100 meters). To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a

wireless access point or “hotspot”.

The availability and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on the number,

infrastructure, and other objects through which the signal passes.
