J Class Technical Reference

Test Access Port (TAP)

The CPU module supports the IEEE 1149 standard. Please refer to Table 2–6 for a summary of the Test
Access Port signals. These signals are routed to the modules system interface to assist in manufacturing
testability.

Module Configuration Status

The CPU module is able to identify its cache size, operating frequency, and processor operating voltage
requirements. The clock frequency status ensures that a module is not installed in a system with a system
clock frequency that is incompatible with the module. Please refer to Tables 2.11, 2.12, 2.13, and 2.14 for
a further description of the configuration status byte.

Status[0:5] are supplied to the Processor Dependent Hardware (PDH). PDH is able to detect the presence
or absence of a CPU module in a slot by reading the first two status bits of the module. Each of the bits is
pulled high through a resistor on the system board. The CPU module ties the bits that should be logic zero
to ground through a 0 ohm resistor.
