The system board spare part kit includes replacement thermal material.
You do NOT have to remove the heat sink to remove the system board. You do have to remove the fan
to remove the system board.

Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the following components:
a.
Bottom cover (see

b.
Battery (see
Battery on page 46
)
c.
WLAN module (see
WLAN module on page 32
)
d.
Fan (see
Fan on page 41
)
NOTE:
If replacing the system board, be sure to remove the heat sink from the old board and install it
on the new board.
