Using the Recovery CD

Installing Retail Windows NT 4.0

Important

When choosing a file system, refer to the

Windows NT Resource Kit

for a detailed

discussion of FAT and NTFS file systems.

13. When prompted, choose No, Do Not Create An Emergency Repair Disk, then

click Next.

If is more useful to create a repair disk after installation is complete and after you
have installed your drivers and other applications.

14. When prompted, choose Do Not Connect The Computer To A Network At This

15. Continue following the Windows NT setup instructions.

To install Service Pack 3 for retail Windows NT 4.0

If you’ve installed a

retail

version of Windows NT 4.0, you’ll need to install Service

Pack 3. This is located on

Recovery CD

in the root directory \NT4_SP3.

C A U T I O N

Install the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 from the Recovery CD. If you install

the original Service Pack 3, it will overwrite the OmniBook 7100 video drivers.
If you have installed the original Service Pack 3, choose Windows NT

Workstation 4.00 [VGA mode] from the Windows NT boot menu, then reinstall

the OmniBook 7100 video drivers.

1. Connect the ac adapter and turn on the OmniBook.

2. From the Start menu, click Run.

3. From the CD-ROM drive, run \NT4_SP3\i386\UPDATE, for example,

D:\NT4_SP3\i386\Update.
