System Maintenance Switch
The system maintenance switch (SW4) is an 8-position switch that is used for system
configuration. The default setting for all eight positions is off. For the proper system
maintenance switch settings, refer to the labels attached to the inside of the server
access panel or see the following table.

Off = System configuration can be changed.
2 Lock

On = System configuration is locked and cannot be
modified.
Off = System is in a tower configuration.

Tower/rack model select
On = System is in a rack configuration.
Off = Booting from diskette is controlled by RBSU.

Enable diskette boot
On = Booting from diskette is enabled and RBSU setting
is overridden.
Off = System passwords work normally.

Clear system passwords
On = System passwords will be erased.
Off = No function is available.
6
Invalidate NVRAM
and CMOS
On = ROM treats system configuration as invalid.

To access redundant ROM, set system maintenance switches 1, 5, and 6 to the “on” position.
