Section 3: HP 5242-ACL Tape Drive
2.7.1
Magazine Present (Top LED)
2.7.1.1 This LED remains a steady green when a cartridge magazine is installed in the
autoloader.
2.7.1.2 The LED flashes green when a magazine is in the process of being installed, checked, or
ejected.
2.7.2
Tape Activity (Middle LED)
2.7.2.1 Steady green indicates that a cartridge is present in the drive.
2.7.2.2 Fast (4 times/second) flashing green means data is either being written or read, or that
activity other than the cartridge being loaded or unloaded is occurring.
2.7.2.3 Slow (2 times/second) flashing green means that the cartridge is being loaded or
unloaded.
2.7.3
Operator Attention Required (Lower LED)
2.7.3.1 Steady amber indicates that a serious hardware error has occurred. The tape drive should
be replaced. Call the GCSC.
2.7.3.2 Flashing amber indicates that a user-recoverable error has occurred. These errors are
shown in table 12. A slow flash rate is one cycle per second, medium is twice per second,
and fast is four times a second. The message shown on the top line of the drive's front
panel LCD area should help identify the problem.
