Before removing the processor, follow these steps:

. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.

. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 42 ).

Release the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 57 ).

. Remove the switch cover (see Switch cover on page 64 ).

. Remove the fan assembly (see Fan assembly on page 66 ).

. Remove the heat sink (see Heat sink on page 67 ).
Remove the processor:

. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to turn the processor locking screw (1) one-half turn counterclockwise
until you hear a click.
