Manually Clearing CMOS and Passwords
CMOS is a chip that keeps a record of installed components when your HP
Brio PC is turned off. Clearing CMOS settings may help you resolve the
following problems:
•
when your PC cannot detect a device
•
when you are having problems booting the PC
You should clear CMOS manually when you cannot gain access to the PC’s
Setup program.
•
by using your PC’s
Setup
program (recommended method). Refer to
page 66.
•
by opening your PC and clearing CMOS manually (recommended if you
cannot solve the problem by using
Setup
).

Remove the PC’s cover. Refer to page 49.

Move the Clear CMOS jumper to the Clear CMOS position shown above.
If you want to clear passwords only, move the Clear Password jumper to
the Clear Password position.

Replace the cover and reconnect the power cord.

Switch on the PC.

Shut down the PC and replace the jumper you moved earlier to its
original position.

Restart the PC and press
F2
to enter the
Setup
program when
prompted. You now have full access to the
Setup
program. For more
