Data Protector Express® User’s Guide and Technical Reference 

 

Recovering a system with an encrypted backup 

1.  The user boots from the DR bootable media to initiate the restoration process. 

2.  The first phase of recovery completes and the system is rebooted.  

•

 

If using a separate boot CD or DVD, the user will be prompted to supply additional media, as 
required, and will be asked to enter a passphrase if that media is encrypted.  

•

 

If using a device that supports One-Button Disaster Recovery, the first phase of recovery is 
completed and the system is rebooted. The user will be asked to enter a passphrase before the rest 
of the data on the bootable media is restored.  

•

 

If a hint was supplied when encryption was enabled, it will also be displayed. 

3.  Restore continues. If the job requires more media, the original passphrase will be used. If the 

passphrase does not match the media, the user will be prompted for a different passphrase.
