Query window and Selection Filters window
Applicable Objects: All catalog objects, Backup, Restore and Verify jobs
Use the Query window to sort files for displaying on Catalog view. Use it to exclude or “filter out” files
that do not meet the specified selection criteria.
Query filters are applied to all of the volumes, folders and files ordinarily displayed on the Catalog view.
You cannot apply different filters to different machines or volumes.
Data Protector Express uses the
selection filters to sort the files and only displays the files that meet the selection criteria.
Use the
Selection Filters
window to specify the selection criteria for a job. It excludes or “filters out”
files that do not match the selection criteria.
The filter criteria are applied to all marked files, regardless if they were marked before or after the filter
criteria were specified. After specifying the selection filter criteria, you can then mark or unmark files,
folders and volumes for backup. You can also change the filter criteria at any time; Data Protector
Express will automatically reapply the new selection filter criteria to the marked folders and files.
Backup range: Displays files according to their backup date. The backup date is assigned to a file each
time it is backed up. The backup date for a file is the same as the
last
time it was backed up.
Modify range: Displays files according to their modify date. Each time a file is modified, its modified date
is updated. You can use this filter to display files whose modified date matches your criteria. Data
Protector Express checks the directory information on the volume to see if the file should be included in
the job.
Create range: Displays files according to their create date. When a file is first created, it is assigned a
create date. You can use this filter to display only those files which match your criteria. Data Protector
Express checks the created date for each file stored in the directory of the volume and uses this to sort
files.
Delete range: Displays files according to their delete date.
