4. Remove the access panel ( Remove the access panel on page 39).
5. Remove the primary riser cage ( Removing and replacing the primary or secondary PCIe riser cages
on page 45).
6. Remove the M.2 SSD.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Removing and replacing the hot-plug fan
Procedure
1. Extend the server from the rack ( Extend the server from the rack on page 37).
2. Remove the access panel ( Remove the access panel on page 39).
CAUTION:
Do not operate the server for long periods with the access panel open or removed. Operating the
server in this manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can lead to thermal
damage.
IMPORTANT:
For optimum cooling, install fans in all primary fan locations.
For more information, refer to the fan locations table in the server user guide.
3. Remove the fan.
