D. Removal and Replacement of Drier
IMPORTANT
Always install a new drier every time the sealed refrigeration system is opened.
Do not replace the drier until after all other repair or replacement has been
made.
1) Turn off the power supply, and unplug the unit.
2) Remove the panels.
3) Recover the refrigerant and store it in an approved container.
4) Remove the drier.
5) Install the new drier with the arrow on the drier in the direction of the refrigerant flow.
Purge with nitrogen gas flowing at a pressure of 3 to 4 psig when brazing the tubing.
6) Check for leaks using nitrogen gas (140 psig) and soap bubbles.
7) Evacuate the system, and charge it with refrigerant; see the nameplate for the required
refrigerant charge.
8) Replace the panels in their correct positions.
9) Plug in the unit, and turn on the power supply.
E. Removal and Replacement of Thermistors
1) Turn off the power supply, and unplug the unit.
2) Remove the panels.
Cabinet Thermistor
3) Remove the screws securing the evaporator shroud. Pull the shroud forward and gently
lower it.
4) Remove the thermistor from the bracket and replace.
5) Replace the parts and panels in their proper positions in the reverse order of the
removal procedure.
6) Plug in the unit, and turn on the power supply.
Defrost Thermistor
3) Remove the screws securing the evaporator shroud. Pull the shroud forward and gently
lower it.
4) Remove the thermistor clip and thermistor from the evaporator. Note the location of the
clip in the evaporator.
5) Replace the thermistor and reinsert the clip into the correct location in the evaporator.
6) Replace the parts and panels in their proper positions in the reverse order of the
removal procedure.
7) Plug in the unit, and turn on the power supply.
