Inspection in the field
Besides the settings in the metering unit, the
placing quality depends on other factors. It can
be adversely affected by external influences:
• The speed of the metering disk. It
depends on working speed and seed
quantity.
•
Soil properties and changing soil
conditions.
• Vibrations and erratic running of the row
unit; adjust the coulter pressure
accordingly.
• Setting and function of the firming wheel.
Check the seed placement periodically to insure
accurate seed placement.
•
After a sufficient driving distance with
consistent speed (approx. 200 ft.) check
the seed spacing of various rows.
• Uncover the grains carefully from the
side so that they will not be displaced in
the seed bed.
•
Measure the placement depth and the
grain spacing. If necessary make
adjustments. (The E-Manager shows the
nominal grain spacing.)
Any changes to the metering unit can influence
the seed placement accuracy. Pay attention to
the test results and the display on the terminal.
Repeat the test sequences in case of negative
results.
Changing the Settings
Seed problems and faults may be encountered
in grain pick-up (1), on the scraper (2) and in
