System Options
To change these settings, choose “System Options” from the Main Menu.
Language
sets the PTS Programmer’s language.
Signal
sets units of distance and speed to the appropriate country (USA standard or Canada - CND metric).
Red manual
allows the user to manually handle the system with no regard for programmed Red clearance
time. When the option is disabled (set to “No”), the Red clearance time from the last program entered is
automatically added between opposing greens when manually handling.
Preemption
sets the maximum time in seconds a preemption detection can be active.
Timeout
refers to the amount of time the controller will tolerate a break in radio communication. Note
that the higher this number is, the longer it will take the system to fail in the event of a communication loss.
The default Horizon value is 5.0 seconds
Quartz Sub
is an option that allows the system to continue operating once radio communication has been
lost. If communication is broken for longer than the “Timeout” value, the controller can revert to Quartz
mode to continue operating. By default, this option is set to “Disabled.” There are four other options to
choose from in the event of lost communication:
Enabled - Normal operation during green intervals, although extension times are disregarded.
Error - Instead of a green indication, the programmed Error mode is displayed during green intervals.
Preset - Uses the Quartz Substitution setting selected during programming.
Lamps Off - Instead of a green indication, lamps go dark during green intervals.
When the system is running in Quartz Substitution mode, extended green times will be disabled due to the
loss of communication. All green times will equal the base green time plus half the extension time. If
communication is reestablished, the program will run as normal. Once activated, the system will run a
minimum of 2 cycles before returning to radio mode (once communication has been re-established).
Error
is the mode that the system will enter in the event of a failure when running a program. Flash Red,
Flash Yellow, Solid Red, and Lamp Off are available. Flash Red is the default setting.

Flash
is the indication that the system will enter when the user manually activates Flash Mode via the PTS
Programmer/Controller’s Rotary Switch when running a program. Flash Red, Flash Yellow, Solid Red, and
Lamp Off are available. Flash Red is the default setting.

Horn
should always be set to “error”. Not used.
Red Extens.
Red time clearance extender can be “enabled” or “disabled”. If enabled Red time clearance
extender circuit can be used. When disabled “Red Extens” is not available during programming.
Password
By setting a password, the user can lock the active program, allowing edits to be made only after
the correct password has been entered. If the password is forgotten, please contact Horizon Signal at
800-852-8796.
NOTE: If any of these settings are changed, they will not take effect until a new program is loaded.
