Appendix 2: Remote Communications

For remote communications with up to three centrals, a 
modem or ISDN terminal adapter can be connected directly 
to the modem interface of the XCL8010 Controller Module. 
 

Notes 

Remote communication via modem or ISDN terminal 
adapter requires firmware version V2.1.0 or higher. 
XBSi building supervisors are not supported for remote 
communication. 
 

Approved Modems 

For information on modems approved for use with the Excel 
800, please refer to the “Frequently Asked Questions and 
Troubleshooting” document available via the Honeywell 
Technical Assistance Center (TAC) or, for Honeywell

The modem interface of the XCL8010 Controller Module 
accepts a standard modem cable with a female 9-pin
