5. The controller
5.1. Three-phase power supply
Power comes from a three-phase supply with L1/L2/L3/N/
PE-400/230 V 50/60 Hz.
The electronics are supplied via phase L1.
The contactors are controlled via phase L3.
5.2. Single phase power supply
For the operation of single phase pumps, a power supply
with L1/N/PE - 230 V 50/60 Hz is required. In this case, ter-
minals L1 and L3 are bridged in the controller (the contac-
tors are controlled via terminal L3). The check of rotational
direction has no effect.
5.3. Rotational direction check
After connecting the PCM to the power supply, the „Pow-
er on“ LED lights up. When connected to a three-phase
power supply, the direction of rotation is also monitored.
If L1/L2/L3 are connected correctly, the PCM starts op-
erating after a few seconds. If the rotational direction is
incorrect (order of L1/L2/L3 not observed, pump runs in
the wrong direction), the pump LEDs light up, alternat-
ing between yellow and red. For correct operation, two
phases in the supply must be swapped over.
The circuit is checked for correct phase sequence only;
asymmetry is not detected.
Please note: The message is automatically acknowl-
edged after 1 min. The „wrong“ direction of rotation
is then accepted by the controller.
The message „wrong“ rotational direction can also
be acknowledged by pressing the Reset button.
5.4. Battery, mains-independent alarm
A battery is not required for standard operation of the
pump controller.
All setting parameters are stored at zero volt in a fail-safe
EEPROM.
If a battery is installed (CR2032, 3V approx. 220 mAh), an
interval tone sounds via the beeper (a short tone pulse
every 5 seconds) in the event of a power failure. It should
last for approx. 1 year.
The tone pulse can be acknowledged by pressing the Re-
set button.
The battery is also required for the built-in clock to retain
the dates and times in the event list and fault message list
after a power failure.
If a Bluetooth connection is established between the con-
troller and a smartphone or tablet, the time and date on
the smartphone are transferred to the controller with a
deviation of at least 1 second.
If the battery voltage is too low (or no battery is inserted),
the alarm LED pulses briefly.

General section
Green „Power on“ LED:
Constant illumination
indicates that the PCM is receiv-
ing a power supply and is ready for operation
Red „Alarm/Service“ LED:
Constant illumination
indicates that an alarm is present.
The following messages result in an alarm message:
- High water level
- Signal value < 4 mA at 4-20 mA (lead break)
Flashing
indicates that a service is required. The set time
until the next service has elapsed.
Pulsing
indicates that the battery has fallen below a min-
imum voltage (2.5 V).
„Reset“ button
Pressing the „Reset“ button acknowledges the alarm
message (signal buzzer and fault message relay).
Green „Unlock/Bluetooth“ LED:
Constant illumination
indicates that the Bluetooth mod-
ule has been activated and that other participants recog-
nise the PCM as a Bluetooth-compatible device. The key-
pad is also unlocked.
If there is no data traffic for longer than 5 minutes, a Blue-
tooth connection is automatically interrupted and the LED
goes out.
Flashing
indicates that a connection is being established.
„Unlock“ button
Pressing the „Unlock“ button activates the Bluetooth
module and unlocks the keypad.
