Two thermostats control water temperature: One for 120 Volt and the other for propane. The water heater
manufacturer presets the temperature of both thermostats.
Water is pumped into the bottom of the water heater tank and is heated using propane, 120 Volt AC or a
combination of both. Heated water is discharged out of the top of the tank upon usage. The water heater is
equipped with a bypass valve for easy winterization and a
Temperature Pressure Relief Valve
for safety. The
water heater has an aluminum-clad tank; therefore, an anode is not necessary.
NOTE:
Due to a possible problem (air or obstruction) in the propane lines, the water heater burner will
attempt three ignition cycles. If the burner does not light after the third attempt, the propane function
will lock-out. Reasons for lockout may be air in the propane system or burner tube obstructions
caused by an insect or spider web. Cycling the water heater 12 Volt propane switch ON and OFF will
reset the internal ignition board. If problem persists consult a qualified technician.
CAUTION:
DO NOT operate the water heater by either function without water in the water heater tank. This can
damage the thermostats and the electric heating element.
Before Using the Water Heater
Purge all trapped air prior to operating the water heater to pressurize the system. Fill the fresh water tank
using the on board water pump while hooked to city water. Check around the tank and under the vehicle for any
sign of a water leak. Once the tank is filled turn on hot and cold water valves at each faucet until air pockets are
eliminated and a steady stream of water appears. Once air is purged from the system confirm that the water heater
is plugged into the 120 Volt AC outlet at the back of the heater. Locate the water heater bypass system valves
behind the water heater and select the NORMAL USE position.
Water Heater Compartment
Periodically check the service compartment and the screen in the door located
outside of the recreational vehicle to ensure no foreign material has accumulated which
will prevent the flow of combustion and ventilating air. Located inside the water heater
compartment is the drain plug and temperature relief valve for the water heater.
Water Heater Bypass System
A bypass system is installed in the water system to close the
water heater off from recreational water lines. The bypass valve is
located behind the water heater in the front compartment.
When winterizing the recreational vehicle empty the water heater
and turn the valves to the BYPASS position to prevent antifreeze
from entering the tank. When it is time to resume operation, flush
the lines of antifreeze and then turn the water heater valves to
NORMAL USE position to refill the water heater tank.
The water heater bypass system is located behind the water
heater. The water heater is typically located in the front alcove
compartment, behind access panel.
