Taking into Service
NOTE
The battery charging indicator (8), the engine
oil pressure indicator (7) and parking brake in-
dicator (9) (if parking brake is engaged) come
on.
- Turn the ignition key to position 2.
The engine is being preheated. The preheating indicator
(6) comes on.
NOTE
When starting at low temperatures, hold the
ignition key longer (approx. 1 minute) in posi-
tion 2.
- When the preheating indicator extinguishes, turn the
ignition key to position 3 to start the engine.
ATTENTION
Operate the starter for a maximum of 20 sec-
onds. Wait one minute, then repeat the start-
ing procedure. Repeat the starting procedure
only twice at most. In case the engine does
not start, carry out a troubleshooting accord-
ing to the section entitled "Problems, Causes,
Remedy".

NOTE
The ignition lock has a starter safeguard lock.
The ignition key must be switched back to
position 0 before it can be turned from posi-
tion 1 to position 2 or 3 again.
