Video recording/playback standard that applies to DVD-RAM and DVD-RW: This
allows versatile editing functions, differing from the DVD Video Format.
DVD+RW Alliance An industrial group that has devR, +RW and DVD+VR, and is establishing,
promulgating and promoting the format speci

cations. (This group differs from the
DVD Forum and BDA).
DVD+RW
Video Format
Video recording/playback format for +RW was developed by DVD industry organi-
zation “DVD+RW Alliance”, which is different from the DVD Forum.
DVD-Audio
One type of DVD standard disc, on which high-quality audio can be recorded
DVD-R /
DVD-R DL
A DVD application format. One-time recording (write-once) disc: DL stands for
Double Layer (2-layer structure). The storage capacity of DL is 1.8 times that of the
1-layer-structure disc.
DVD-RAM
One type of DVD standard disc, to which writing up to 100,000 times is possible
DVD-ROM
One type of DVD standard disc, to which data for computer can be recorded
DVD-RW
One type of DVD standard disc, to which writing up to 1000 times is possible
DVD-Video
One type of DVD standard disc, on which high-quality video and audio can be
recorded

Frame Noise Reducer: This function or circuit automatically recognizes noise that

Full HD

One type of DVD to and from which data is written and read using blue-violet laser.

HDMI
Digital video/audio input/output interface standard for consumer electronics and
AV devices. A single HDMI cable allows sending and receiving of video, audio and
control signals.
HDTV / HD

video standard: Also referred to as HD or Hi-Vision. The high-de

with resolution of 1920 x 1080 is sometimes referred to as full HD.

Interlaced CCD
This CCD scans one image twice (scans roughly once and interpolates between

twice to create a one-image signal.

Liquid Crystal Display. LCD formats include STN and TFT.
LPCM
Linear Pulse Code Modulation. Also referred to as linear PCM. LPCM is a format
that digitizes analog audio data during recording and converts it to analog data
during playback.
